I do not like cheese. I do not like cheese?

I have not liked cheese for 43 years. It's a subject I thought was more than done. I have been tasting a few different kinds throughout life, but never have I said I liked it and I don't!
A few days ago, I was asked if I wanted to get some dinner at Dom Queijo. Despite the name, I assumed I would be able to order something without that fine ingredient. I ventured.
The restaurant is in Campo Grande, right next to the Church. It has a small esplanade, where you feel like being, while listening to good jazz, at the right volume. The interior space is also small. Small seems like a lesser word, but here, on the other hand, small is ideal, for which I think it is intended. It's curious because I immediately felt comfortable, despite the tables and high chairs that always seem to be something to "dispatch", the wood of the wall, the lighting and the jazz made me not feel like leaving. This sensation lasted the time to pick up the menu and realize that the Cheese is the law there ...

I still tried to understand if there was any possibility of escaping this sovereignty by participating, to whom was receiving us so warmly, my incompatibilities with the manna.
(I do not know if it was because I told him I did not like cheese, but the truth is that I saw the host climbing walls!)

"Not liking cheese is a psychological thing.". Is it?!
We can choose the degustation menu or opt for or tidbits and plates separately. To be careful I decided to order the Chicken stuffed with Spinaches, Feta and Ricotta, with Risotto of Shitake mushrooms and Parmesan.
While we waited (and “waited” also may not be the right word… because everything is in the adequate time) I tasted the wine that already had been asked by the time I arrived… They had been original in the choice… Do you know the name? Half cheese ... (and by now I could use the looking up emoji!)... but well, at least it wasn't the whole cheese!!!! (The emoji again!) I do not always want wine, but that went down nicely.
Meanwhile the couvert arrived.

Gruyere’s homemade Grissini are superb and Cheese Bread (with Nisa and Chouriço) from Alentejo, though scary, I could not resist trying them out and at this point I began to think that the subject "cheese" may not be as done as I thought.
When the snacks appeared, Halloumi Grilled with Jalapeño and Tequila Relish and the Fried Manchego Triangles with homemade jam of the day - in this case, made of carrots ... well, if you look at the photographs you realize that a non-cheese lover won't tempted for bits of cheese, even if disguised ... and aesthetically favoured.

Right? Wrong!
I started slowly ... for wanting to try the jam. I do not know how to speak of how good it was in this case. So, good it was disconcerting. So disconcerting that I cut a square out of a triangle, certain that the compote would protect me from Dom Queijo ... But the kingdom is well formed and in place and I felt compelled to end the geometry without the protection of D. Carota at this time.
The slices of grilled cheese with “that thing” on top, I wasn't about to try. So, I thought! For cheese, I do not care and for Jalapeño also, not... Certain it is that I finished eating my half slice and I found myself grumbling when the other half ended up in someone else’s place... humpf!
The talented Chef and the dishes’ preparation are in sight, for everyone to see. This being in sight, is not always good or I often prefer not to see ... I'm very picky and by defect of education, I'm obstinate with the "cleaning" and disinfection ... Imagine what I felt when I saw the Chef pouring alcohol into dishes and drying them out with paper towels ...? (If it was my decision, those yellow cloths and the like would be abolished from the market ... either for commercial or domestic use, it would be all immediate disposal).
In these dishes came ... the dishes! And here are the photographs.

Delight yourselves! Only because I lack the words for describing my experience and I do not want to become repetitive. I just want to say that I did not try the lamb, because I don't like it (well, I guess! At least I'll believe it until Vasco decides to open a Don Borrego!)
The dessert .. hum.., yes that, cheesecake ... it came, like everything else with a very original and beautiful plating. And yes, in addition to not liking cheese I do not love cheesecake, (if that's a phrase that can make sense!), But I was not going to leave out the chance to give it a try and I do not regret it!

Dom Cheese is quite recent, has about 5 weeks old. The tidbits and dishes vary and soon you will also be able to have Fondue and Raclette that promise to exceed the originality of what is already presented there.
I challenge all those like me who do not like cheese to give themselves a chance to try and be amazed at the flavours given to us.
Regarding the matter that I thought closed ... I'll go on to say, "I do not like cold cheese!" (Or queijo da serra, even if hot!)
